Growing online community attracting diverse set of Podcasters

<< Back to Press

STAMFORD, CT -- From lively 'shout outs' to friends and original music to clever political musings and even audio obituaries of the once famous, WildVoice is attracting a broad and diverse group of Podcasters. The online community, which makes Podcasting fun and easy, has grown rapidly since it was launched in June. Today WildVoice celebrates some of the most active Podcasters. They include:

MilesJanus: If you run across something that says "New drum and bass track, 160 bpm: not for the faint of heart," be warned. Click "play" and a pulse-pounding dub-synth called "Eye of the Beholder" will blast you back in your chair, courtesy of musician and podcaster Miles Janus. An electronic musician living in Eugene, Oregon, Janus says he's on WildVoice to spread the vibe and elevate the community. Like what you hear? Listen to more Janus originals, like "Whirled Peas in My Pod" or "Unconditional Dub" at http://www.wildvoice.com/People/MilesJanus.aspx

RonNasty: Feeling a bit nostalgic? Check out Ron Nasty's "Final Taxi: Stories of the Dead or Lost from Movies to Music." Each podcast is a tribute to the careers of entertainers recently deceased, delivered in Nasty's comfortable, uber-fan, southern drawl. Listening to these details of the lives of the famous and the nearly famous can be weirdly addictive, as you find yourself strolling through memory lane and fondly remembering the stars of yesteryear. In his eulogy for child actress Jessica Madison Wright, Ron Nasty writes, "I hate it when this becomes a daily blog. That means we have lost more talent in this world." To hear the latest Final Taxi installment go tohttp://www.wildvoice.com/People/ronnasty.aspx

TorahC: Podcasting from the other side of the world, TorahC describes herself as a freelance editor, a mother, a Buddhist, a drummer, a bellydancer, and a war-protesting military spouse living in Japan. Her journal entries have titles like "The Happy Pill Manifesto" and "Israel Is a Big Fat Bully." Or listen to odd slices of life in podcasts like "fear" and "The Dog on My Balcony." You can even see video of her daughter's class performing a traditional Okinawan drum dance. Grandma will love it! Hear more at http://www.wildvoice.com/People/torahc.aspx

Redryder: Want something completely different? Try RedRyder's KDALLLL Radio podcast. If your spoof detector didn't go off at "Infants and Cell Phones," listen to a show called "Presidents Clinton and Bush" sponsored by Redbook Industries: "We take pride in selling books that are red." Or try "International Food on National Soil," where correspondent Jimmy "the Lips" reports that the food in Iraq "sure ain't Italian." The commercial for the Covell County Fair promises music by "18 Wheels and Mudflaps" and the usual kissing booth, cow tipping stand, and mud wrestling, and reminds you to "make the day slightly more stereotypical."
